2021 Truck Convoy

Become the Lead Truck of the Convoy!

The action to become the lead truck of the convoy is open Monday, August 30th at 8:00 am and ends on Friday, September 3rd at 5:00 pm. Bids must be sent to csoete@specialolympics.ab.ca and will not be accepted through other means or past the deadline. We will be updating the website and social media as bids come in.

The Truck Convoy for Special Olympics is an annual event that unites Law Enforcement and the Transportation Industry to raise funds for Special Olympics athletes. 2021 marks the 20th anniversary of the inception of the event. Since it began in 2001, more than 15,000 trucks - big rigs to dump trucks - have traversed more than 10,000 km.

"I HAD A VERY REWARDING EXPERIENCE PARTICIPATING IN THE TRUCK CONVOY FOR SPECIAL OLYMPICS. THIS WAS MY SECOND YEAR PARTICIPATING IN THE CONVOY AND I WAS FORTUNATE TO HAVE AN ATHLETE RIDE ALONG WITH ME THIS YEAR. I WAS ALSO THE LEAD TRUCK PULLING BISON TRANSPORTS NEW SPECIAL OLYMPICS TRAILER. IT WAS AWESOME HEARING ABOUT ALL THE ATHLETES WANTING A RIDE IN IT. IT IS A VERY REWARDING EXPERIENCE TO BE A PART OF, AND IT IS AMAZING TALKING TO AND GETTING TO KNOW SOME OF THE ATHLETES. I ENCOURAGE ANYONE THINKING ABOUT IT TO JOIN US NEXT YEAR!”

In Calgary, 800 Special Olympics athletes will benefit, as funds raised will support sports and programs in the area.

Convoy Start: 10:00 AM
BBQ: 12:00 PM - 2:00 PM

Registration

Registration Fee - $100.00.
Registration fees include Breakfast, BBQ lunch, Truck Convoy t-shirt, and a Truck Convoy and hat.

Registration begins at 8:00 am. Join us for breakfast from 8:00 am until 9:45 am. The Driver's meeting is at 9:45 am, and the Convoy will begin at 10:00 am from the Rosenau Terminal at 234180 Wrangler Rd SE in Rocky View, AB.

You can guide the convoy. An online auction will take place for an opportunity to be the lead, with special signage. Stay tuned!

After the Convoy

There will be a celebratory BBQ and awards ceremony will be held back at the Rosenau Terminal with live entertainment and a kid's activity centre.

You will also have the opportunity to test out how your driving skills match up by trying out Volker Stevin's truck simulator.
