2022 Polar Plunge

There is a $50 registration fee required to plunge virtually. Registrants will receive an electronic $25 tax receipt (emailed to the email address you registered with) as well as your registration-level incentive - a Polar Plunge dry gear bag - mailed right to your home (to the address you used to register with). Plungers can raise additional funds, earning them extra incentives along the way. You can raise funds in person, online, or a combination of both.

Online donations will remain open until March 20 2022. As with 2021, we will host in-person collection dates for those collecting offline cash and cheque donations. Stay tuned for information regarding dates/locations. You should keep a record of all offline donations you receive, either by entering it into your personal fundraising page as an offline donation, or by printing off and completing this pledge form

We are back! The 2022 Polar Plunge is a unique opportunity to support Special Olympics Alberta athletes by plunging your way virtually!

Each year, the Polar Plunge challenges hundreds of brave jumpers at numerous locations around the province. It’s a great way for everyone - individuals, organizations, and teams - to get involved in supporting Special Olympics Alberta.

All funds raised go towards supporting programming for more than 3,000 athletes across the province.

Think you have what it takes? The concept is simple: each participant registers for $50, raises donations, and takes a dip in-person or virtually in a safe and creative way. A virtual plunge gives you an opportunity to bring the spirit of the Polar Plunge into your own home.

Similar to 2021, you can Plunge Your Way anytime between January 30 and March 12– from taking a dip in an ice bath to hitting a backyard slip and slide, the opportunities are endless. We cannot wait to see what you come up with in 2022!  Go solo, grab some friends, get dunked, and register today!

Plunge Your Way Video Submission

We are asking all virtual participants to share their plunge videos with us by posting it to social media, tagging us @PlungeAlberta, and making sure the post is public so we can share to our channels. There are no restrictions as to how to get your plunge done – whether snow angels, cold buckets of water, or in a kiddie pool in your backyard.

We are also asking that you send your videos via WeTransfer to info@specialolympics.ab.ca. The videos that we receive will be uploaded to the Polar Bear Lair, which we hope will facilitate a community of virtual togetherness. WeTransfer is a free cloud-based online platform designed to allow you to transfer different types of files to other users on the Internet.

Click the button below to upload your video, copy the link, and then send your submission to info@specialolympics.ab.ca.

Virtual Highlight Days

With everything moving to virtual we still want to recognize the cities, sponsors, volunteers, and plungers who support us through Virtual Highlight Days. Each city will have a mini opening ceremonies on our social media platforms and we are asking our plungers who live in each city to share their videos online that day to help us celebrate and raise awareness.
