
The Law Enforcement Torch Run® (LETR) is the largest public awareness and grassroots fundraising organization for Special Olympics globally. In Alberta, the LETR holds a number of fundraising and awareness campaigns throughout the year. These events are critical to providing quality opportunities to Special Olympics Athletes across the province.
There are over 250 LETR members in Alberta, also known as Guardians of the flame.
The efforts of the LETR help provide sport programming to over 2,500 Special Olympics Athletes across the province.
The LETR has raised over $9,000,000 in Alberta since it's inception

The Torch Run™ is the most well-known event that the LETR hosts. During this event, officers run the Flame of Hope™ into the Opening Ceremony of local, regional, national and international competitions. Since the launch of this tradition in Canada, there have been a wide range of initiatives established at the national, regional and local levels, lead by the LETR. These campaigns and events collectively raise more than $400,000 annually.
